Breakfast Rumtini

There's something gloriously defiant about a cocktail called the Breakfast Rumtini. It doesn't take itself too seriously, and yet the drink itself is genuinely sophisticated — a sharp, citrus-forward martini-style serve that pulls from the flavours of a good breakfast table and elevates them into something worthy of a proper glass.

At the centre is Landlocked Tangerine Rum, which brings that vibrant citrus character and smooth, warming base. Lemon juice adds the sharp, clean acidity that a good martini-style cocktail needs, while orange juice softens it and adds body. And then the secret ingredient: a barspoon of good orange marmalade.

It sounds like a joke. It isn't. The marmalade adds a bittersweet, slightly jammy complexity that transforms the drink — adding depth, texture, and a slight savoury edge that the other ingredients don't provide. It's the kind of addition that makes you think "of course" once you've tasted it, and yet you'd never have got there on your own.

Shake everything together vigorously with ice (the marmalade needs proper agitation to dissolve and integrate) and double strain into a chilled martini glass. No garnish required — the flavour does all the talking.

This one is for the brunch crew, the cocktail nerds, and anyone who has ever eaten marmalade on toast and thought: this could be in a drink.
