The Story

Every other Navy Rum on the shelf is dark. Mine isn't — and that was deliberate. I wanted the strength without the usual caramel colouring doing the talking. At 57% Vol, it's the most serious thing in the range, built for people who want a rum to actually taste like rum, full strength, with nothing dialled back.

How it's made

Same molasses base, fermented 14 days, double-distilled through the copper still — but for the Navy I take a tighter cut, keeping more of the spirit's natural strength and character rather than diluting it down to the usual 40%. No colouring added. What you get is a rum that's brilliantly clear but hits like a proper Navy strength rum should — sweet molasses, a little treacle, a long, warming finish.

Why it's different

The only expression in the range bottled above 50% — everything else sits at 42-45%. It's also the only one that stays completely clear despite the strength, where most navy-style rums lean on dark colouring to do the talking.

Benefits + Features

The process

I start with raw molasses — the same base ingredient used to make Caribbean rum, fermented from scratch here in Fenny Stratford. No bought-in base spirit. No concentrate. The molasses ferments for 14 days, creating a wash I then double-distil through our modern, stainless steel pot still.
