Nuclear Mojito
Jul 07, 2026
The Mojito doesn't need improving. It's been doing its job perfectly well for a very long time. Rum, lime, sugar, mint, soda — refreshing, aromatic, and about as good a summer drink as exists. So when we say the Nuclear Mojito takes it up a level, we mean it carefully.
The secret is the rum. Landlocked Navy Rum is a full-bodied, characterful spirit — richer and more complex than a standard white rum, with a depth that comes from its molasses base and the tradition of naval rum blending. Where a lighter rum sits beneath the mint and lime, the Navy Rum stands alongside them. It adds weight, warmth, and a backbone that turns a good Mojito into a great one.
The rest of the recipe stays close to home: lime juice for acidity, simple syrup for sweetness, a proper handful of fresh mint, and a generous top of soda water. Build it over crushed ice in a highball — the crushed ice is important, not just for aesthetics, but because the dilution as it slowly melts integrates everything over time, getting better with every sip.
Garnish with a fresh mint sprig and don't hold back on it. You want to smell the mint before you taste the drink.
Why Nuclear? Because once you've had one, the standard model no longer cuts it.
