The Story
Heavy Gauge is Grid & Grove's Navy Strength gin, and the reason it exists is simple: I love Navy gin, so I made one. It's loaded with juniper for a rich, resinous backbone, with fresh lime peel, grains of paradise, dried ginger and sarsaparilla rounding it out.
Amazing on its own if you can handle it, equally at home in a Martini or a G&T that needs to still taste of gin once the mixer goes in.
How it's made
The botanicals macerate in ethanol for 24 hours before being distilled in our new 50-litre pot still: juniper berries, coriander seed, angelica root, fresh lime peel, grains of paradise, dried ginger, and sarsaparilla. The resulting distillate is then slowly brought to bottling strength over three days.
Why it's different
It's not really about the ABV — that's just a bonus that lets the flavour carry further. This is built around big, lasting flavour first; 57% is what makes sure you can still taste it after the tonic goes in.
